Superheroes Unite!

 Wrapping up villains
                                                          Mr. Freeze snowcone creations

                                                                         Building bigger!
Solving puzzles

Wow! The summer has completely flown by! In the past couple months, my classes have gone through superhero training, learned how to cook based on comics, solved mysteries, and created a 3D comic book scene. In these classes, my friends practiced math, science, and literacy skills. They also learned how to work cooperatively with others to accomplish a common goal. To be honest, I had no idea how 6-year-olds could possibly be interested in and participate in the same activities as 5th graders. But boy did these kids prove me wrong!
This summer I learned that age and differences aren't enough to stop kids from working together and having fun!

Laugh Silly

How is it Ms Abby is just finding out that she has a class full of talented dancers?

That's it. Dance parties every day!

Because it is impossible to get enough of this.

And while we are not dancing:

Do you know about firefighters?
Because we sure do.
He taught us a lot of important fire safety tips that we can't wait to tell everyone about!

Sometimes it's just really nice to hear "Go ahead. You can jump in that puddle."

...more days should be spent like that.

Remember to sing loud, kiss daily, and laugh silly.
Let us remember to not worry about stains on clothes
or shoes on the "right" feet.

They love to dance with our colorful ribbons

Enjoying lunch :)

This is a very active class.  They are always in motion!!

We squished shaving cream with  red and yellow paint in a baggie and
watched it turn orange.

Peeling tape off of the mirror.

Welcome to Ms. Amy's Pumpkin Patch :)

One of the fun parts of a pumpkin patch is the corn  or hay bale maze.
Since we had neither corn stalks or hay bales, Ms. Amy made a maze
out of the beds.  Here is the class starting the maze...

Finding their way out....

...and what did they find?  Pumpkins of course.

Happy Fall!!

In Ms Abby's Class

In Ms Abby's Class we...

Build things with marshmallows and straws...and snack a little while we are at it.
Learn how fun it is to (very) carefully cut with scissors.
Get wet splashing around with the sea animals at the water table.
Proudly show off our engineering skills.
Have fun playing with our "class pets."
Practice fine motor skills moving pom-pom balls with clothes pins.
Get to work cleaning our playground toys.
Splash around in the soapy water, and then hang the rags to dry on our clothes line.
Have fun making a mess at the colored rice table.
Put on our firefighter suits, get our water hose, and all work together to stop the fire in our class room!
Practice letter recognition in only the most fun ways.

We have discovered that we love dramatic play. We quietly read stories together, and we loudly sing songs. We relax at nap time by listening to classical music and poems. We run and explore during outdoor time. We are thrilled when we get to go on nature walks, and feed the ducks.
We are always willing to get dirty during art time.

We don't even realize, that in all of this, we are learning!
